CIRCUMSTANCE (noun)

Definition – a fact or condition connected with or relevant to an event or action

Synonym – situation, conditions, state of affairs, position

The circumstances that resulted from winning the lottery allowed the family to donate a tremendous amount of money to charity.

SHIFT (verb)

Definition – move or cause to move from one place to another, especially over a small distance

Synonyms – move, slide, slip, be displaced

When a fault line shifts, the resulting action is generally an earthquake.
